Rear wheel bearing retainer
« on: June 10, 2018, 09:52:57 AM »
Hey guys,

Trying to get this wheel bearing retainer off the rear wheel of my cb750 where the sprocket retaining bearing is. Can anyone give me some insight as to how. I’m sure there’s a special tool I’m missing here. I gotta replace that bearing (which didn’t come with a seal) from Cognito. I am doing this because I got a new rear hub and wheel to go from drum to disk brakes. This needed a new off set sprocket as well and I can’t get the chain on around the sprocket. Can I reuse the chain I had on there? If so, how the hell can I get it on there. It can’t get it around the sprocket.  Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I used some angle iron with two small bolts in the retainer holes. It was so tight I had to pass some all thread through to the other side to hold it on the holes while turning it out. It went in hard too. I cleaned and inspected the threads in the hub and used a new retainer. It was still hard. I think the threads in the hub were cut with a dull cutter. If I have to do it again I'm looking for a new hub.
