CB 550 comming to the Garage...again
« on: January 10, 2007, 07:04:41 PM »
New Guy here,  I bought a new 75 blue 550F in 1975 after reading the "Gentalman's Express" article in Cycle (?)  magizine many years ago.  After the requisit modifications, BMW R90s bars, Kerker 4into1 black pipe, Dunlop K81s and Koni shocks I throughly enjoyed the sophisication of that fine machine.  Rode it several years then traded it for a perfect 65 Super Hawk and an XL 350, go figure.  So last year my son decides he wants the perfect Santa Monica run around bike and gets fixated on a beautiful complete 76 CB 550 K.  pays about what I did for mine 20 years ago and is a happy man.  Then life gets busy and he dosn't ride it often and the battery goes flat and dosen't seem to charge when ridden...good feeling gone.  At Christmas we get it running on 2 (1&2) cylinders and I make the comment I wish I could take it home and mess with it.  He wants to take me up on it.  I'd love to but I feel it just needs an electrical check up and to be ridden.  Anyone is the SoCal, Santa Monica area want to be a hero? or know someone who works on these?  Otherwise I'll have a very nice Honda in my garage for a while.  And the down side?
Thanks for reading,
James

Hey James,

Welcome.  The guys on this forum can talk you through anything you're willing to work on.  Just look at the two weeks they spent day by day talking me through the electrics on my 750K.  That's just one of many examples on this forum.

Go for it.  You've got all the help you need right here.
