...at least I kept it in the family!
« on: January 10, 2007, 07:30:01 PM »
I finally did it.....bought a crotch rocket. I just couldn't resist a really
great looking CBR600F4I on Ebay...and near here. Told the guy when I
picked it up that the newest bike I had ever ridden was a '69 750...his
jaw dropped on that one.  ;D

It sure handles differently from the 750 and riding at a 45 degree body
angle may kill my well used body.

So now the question is....how do I decide amongst the three bikes which
one to ride? Maybe some of the multi bike owners have a few suggestions.  :)

Awhile back I had 10 bikes, now I am down to 4.  It is like having a harem.  Which one do I ride next?  Eeeny-meeny-miney-moe.

Of my collection I have everything from small and slow to cruiser and a final wicked performance(CBR1100XX), depends on my mood and where I am going.   You'll really favor the F4I once you get accustomed/conditioned to riding it, but there are days when an old classic will only do (when your shoulders are killing you from the sportbike).

I'm trying to keep the mileage down on the sandcast and have been
mostly riding the diecast. Now I have another option.

After sampling  ::) the power the F4I has, I can't imagine how a
CBR1000 must perform!  :o :o

Add another 60hp and Double the torque, oh, and dont forget the the ear-to-ear grin.  I rode my friends 600F4I for a while and almost bought one to add to the garage, but decided to go back to the oldies with my CB550 and dump the extra $$$ into mods and tech.

just set a different one for every ride!

That's pretty much what I did for awhile.  The problem is that if you ride them evenly across the board, they all tend to need tires, oil changes, chains and sprockets, etc., all at the same time.

Easy whichever one starts

Seems like one always needs a battery charged, chain lubed, brake adjusted......

Just whichever one hasn't pissed me off lately.

You multi-owner guys who insure the entire fleet are gods! How do you afford it?

Our provincial insurance organisation has been dangling the 'one coverage, multi bike' carrot for some while now. I'll believe it when I see it.

I ride the VFR when the weather's bad, there's salt on the road or I've a long motorway commute (when I need brakes that work, power to spare and 120W headlights!)  ;D

I ride the 500 when the sun shines and I'm in no hurry to get anywhere other than Box Hill or the Ace Cafe.  8)

Horses for courses.

I did 9,000 miles on the VFR and 1,000 on the 500 during 2006 - that seems about right to me.

I ran about 8Kmi in 06' on the XX mostly freeway, touring and twisties.  Also use it for some commuting to work, the rest of my commuting is on my Goldwing with the sidecar for the needs of work.

My little CM250 is strictly in the interest of physics and endurance, 44Kmi and counting with various loads and travels.

The 550 is for the days in town when my head is...     well I have a lot ot fun on it.  This winter it's in pieces to make for a better fun!

The others get about 1-2mi a year to keep the seals in check (collection bikes), and I dont have the heart to get rid of them...  any of them...  cant do it...  part of the family!

And the collection just grows :)

Hey breeze, I'm with ya. I mean, I DO have a fair size collection of "project bikes" but, that's exactly what most all of them are. In fact, some would call them "parts bikes". Personally, I have no idea what it'd be like to have several bikes in good shape and, like breeze, I'm not complaining either. I've got a buddy who know's a guy who has a lot of different brand of bikes that are all collectible and he wants me to see them so I can drool.  ::) I ain't gonna lie about it. I'm looking forward to seeing them too. There's supposed to be BSAs,AJSs, Nortons, Royal Enfields, Hondas, Triumphs and he used to have 2 Ariel Square Fours, but he sold them. I'm just glad that somebody can afford to have them and kep them up. 8)

It really isn't that hard to figure out what to ride. I have the 750 K3 and a '81 GL1100 along with the '99 600 F4 that I put in the garage this Sept. Sometimes I just want a local ride and really don't care where I go, just ride, then I take the 750. Other times, I want to go someplace way down the road and haul some things back, then I take the 'WIng. Then there are days a feel a little aggressive, then it is the F4. Listen to the bikes when you get to the garage, they will tell you. ;D

I like your way of thinking Dave.  It may also have to do with how many you have to
move to get to the one you want to ride.  ;D
