CB400F gearbox in Cb350F
« on: June 12, 2018, 12:03:50 pm »
Hey Guys!
I want to put a 400F sixspeed gearbox into the 350F crankcase. Is that possible? Is the clutch different?

Thanks for answering!

Andy

I believe the cases are different between the bikes so I don't believe the trans would be interchangeable.

Why not the whole engine? It's bolt-on, with a few minor tweaks (rear brakes, e.g.) and 50cc more.

I think a 400 lower case with 350 barrels might work. I believe they both have 50mm stroke?
The clutch actuator is different, 400 has it a covered lever the end of the clutch cover and the 350 has the external lever.
I don't know if one could swap in the transmission shafts and shifter bits though. Not a normal kind of "upgrade" for most of us.

Ahh ok then.  I seem to remember that the oil passages don't line up so swapping the jugs isn't a simple thing.  I also seem to remember the transmissions not being swappable either due to size differences.

So, think outside of the box a little, if what bodi says is true, that both have 50mm stroke, it might be possible (probably not cheapest) to re-sleeve the 400 with jugs to fit a 350 piston???  Would need to make sure everything lined up of course
