The parkway road around Roanoke area has been sprayed with tar and crushed gravel applied, Its like ridding on ball bearings!

That #$%* sucks when it is fresh.  But in a couple weeks or a month it will be fine.  In Michigan,  most 2 lane type country  roads get a coating of it every couple years...if you are lucky.
If it works good, it looks good...

They do that to our local roads here too.  Not that bad, only in some areas the loose stuff stays on top for quite a while.
