Cb350f weird ignition timing issue
« on: June 15, 2018, 06:35:15 PM »
Bike will not fire Checked with test light point static timing blue wire for 1/4 points comes on when at the 2/3 mark and yellow wire 2/3 mark light comes on at 1/4 mark.
So it is backwards bike will not fire any words of wisdom from the group.

Had it running 4 days ago this is right after a top end rebuild first time I have checked the points / static timing - am I doing something wrong??

Sounds like your points leads are swapped.

It sounds like your spark advancer cam is 180 out of phase. Did you take it off? It's easy to put back on backward. There's an indicator notch on the top edge of the cam that points to a unique mark (often a hole) on the baseplate, to point it in the right direction, so to speak.

I believe what happened is after my top end rebuild and in haste to get it started, I forgot to tighten the cam chain tensioner.  Seems I have jumped some teeth on the cam chain - just a guess.  Sound probable???

I'd start with checking the leads are connected correctly though.

Never removed the spark advancer cam - not to worry I fixed it new owner picked it up today.  Rode 60 miles this morning on my DOHC 750 NightHawk.

Life is good.
