Honda question
« on: June 14, 2018, 01:35:01 PM »
Last day for our Colorado trip. My dad's 79 Gold wing is missing at normal throttle but will run good on acceleration. Any ideas? We did check points  and they seem OK for gap and burn.

Maybe a carb has a jet plugged.

Check for loose sparkplug caps on the wires, pretty common on the old G'wings. A sparkplug cap out-of-spec will do it, too. It's not usually serious, though.
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Our first idea for a fix was gasoline additive to compensate for the ethanol only fuel offered in Colorado. That seemed to do the trick.

Which additive?
It might be a good idea to use an additive once a year or second year to clean the carbs internal small passages.
