Sold my Guzzi after 34 years ownership
« on: June 21, 2018, 01:30:33 AM »
Yep, as the title says. Last weekend I sold my old guzzi. The head down, bum up riding style no longer was comfortable. Also it was a heavy lump of a thing to get on and off the centre stand, the kickstand was useless. I was staggered the new buyer was older and smaller than me and could see it was going to take him some practice to move the thing around. Sad to see it go but still have 2 x 750 sohc's and my Harley so things ain't that bad.
Here is a back then and now pic.
New owner left my place in the driving rain and 7 degrees on the thermometer with the intention of riding it back to Perth Western Australia (4000 od klms). My heart was in my mouth watching him go down my driveway which is steep, dirt and rough.

Well at least it sounds like it went to a good home, its hard to sell you're really attached to
One of the best bikes I ever rode was a MK II Californian that belonged to a friendly. Absolutely loved it even though I was in the brutal arms of a GSX1100 at the time
i blame Terry

That's rough selling a faithful old steed.  I can feel your pain since I have had my '75 750F that I will have had for 41 years in a couple of weeks up for sale.  Sooner or later someone will step up and buy it and I will feel like a traitor, but it is for sale -

Hey Greg...do you get any emails from the Craig's ad?
I would think you'd get at least a couple from some of the crackpots on there!

Stev-o, oddly enough I have not gotten one yet.  I use craigslist occasionally and always have to fend off some spam and scams, but not on this one.

Geezuz, what a bloody shame mate, couldn't you have put some higher bars on it? I think the longest I've owned any bike is my brother's 2007 Rocket III that he bought new, rode 18 Km home and decided it was too scary to ride, so sold it to me in 2009. It has been a lot of fun, but apart from the fact that my brother passed 2 years ago, I have no real emotional attachment. Of course if it was a Mk1 Lemans, that might be a different story. Great bike mate, I hope the new owner loves it! (I bet he does.......) ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
