I had my stock carbs just hanging in the intake boots with pods. Engine had 836, ported head, cam and rather loud 4-1 so stock filter was not an option. Bike ran great with the jetting it needed. needles 1 step richer, main 140 (they had 147.5 when I opened and cleaned them last year- re-jet to stock for my K2 stock build w airbox), stock pilot 40.
Today other carbs, Mikuni TMR32 and more need of flow. Carbs are strapped to the frame with rubber damper (opened fuel hose + oil hose, 2" long between so it sit tight without bouncing up, down.
My Smoothboores got home made brackets, thread insert found that had an easy press fitting in the holes on the sides of the carbs.
Stock carbs w pods today should get a strap as my TMR setup has.
