Are these CB750 Forks?
« on: June 30, 2018, 10:45:15 PM »
Hidy ho.

What are the key identifiers? If yes, are there differences in years? Does it matter? If appropriate, these would go on a 1974 CB750.

Thanks!

Looks like a 73 to 76 750 fork. The lowers appear to be the longer 77 or 78 type.
Are the steel fork tubes chrome all the way up ?

You'll have to tell me if that's how they were made or if it's rust that's developed over time.

That's how the early ones were made. For some strange reason, they didn't chrome the whole tube... IMO not the best decision from Honda, as they develop rust under the fork ears, as you see. I believe the later tubes were chromed entirely, and that's what Frank was asking about. It would help determine the approximate year of the forks, whether early or late models.

Ok, cool. I'll see about removing the current Yamaha or Kawasaki 70s style front end and replacing them with these this week. Thanks gentlemen.

If you have the longer lower legs it's easy to fit a fork brace, won't fit on the short ones.

Thanks. Perhaps I'll look into it in the future. First is to get it changed out, not look so bastardized, make it safe and get it moving under its own power.
