I went through a left shoulder dislocation/humerus fracture in early October. I'll be honestly thought the shoulder would never be "normal' again but got better through time and physical therapy. Slipped on ice entering my work and fell on the left shoulder 2/9/18 which pissed off the original injury. Out on Workers Comp until 3/26. Got an MRI and nothing torn etc. the shoulder feels pretty good now.
My point is it often feels like you well never get well BUT 6 months to a year from now you'll be surprised. It is hard not to get a bit depressed about it...it happened to me too. Chin up brother....it will get better.
Also....getting old isn't for pussies....you have to be tough. Old timers like Brent Waller and Keith Byers can attest to that. ;) ;D I'm still a young man....I'm just passing along what they told me. ;D ;D ;D

i give up guys, hard to compete with Simon's 7 plates! My only claim to greatness might be that at 8" long,  "mine is bigger" :)

The X-ray guy said ankle joint looked fine and when they took off the open section cast for a check, the ankle didnt look swollen.

Cast removal is on Friday, April 13, must be a sign of good luck!

That boy can talk more $hit than a $2 radio!  :o

But...I'll take it as a compliment since I know how tuff you and I really are!  8)

But don't you just hate hearing these "kids", like Mikey, whining: "I've fallen and I can't get up!"  ;D  ;D  ;D

You're funny. There ain't been a 2.00 radio in 50 years. Those God Damn transistors......Vacuum tubes were the best things ever! Actually Vacuum Tubes are still used in high end amps etc and they are renowned for their "warm" sound. That doesn't excuse the old man that wrote this piece. ;) ;D

Just in case you were wondering how an "anatomic plate" looks like
and why such long screws?
dang, these docs can be trusted on unsprung weight reduction!

cast is off but ankle feels quite limited in movement, am still at least a month off pitting full weight on the leg...
good lesson in patience

Looks familiar. I have a bag of removed hardware very similar I keep as a reminder and trophy. The strap went on the other side while that side had a couple "deck screws" pulling your bone together from the bottom side.

+1 on George's comment too! That #$%* looks terrible!! Do you have the before hardware picture Simon?

Mike is just top heavy  ;) Too many steaks and he tipped over LMMFAO brother.

well, i am back at work as of Tuesday and it does help being productive again. there i am sitting on an office chair but back at home cant do much at the workshop as standing on one leg is a quite tiring.
will try today to do order and some wrenching, left the workshop in a mess the night before the crash!

well, 3.5 months on and X-rays say it's all somehow welded back....

So nothing like a 3 day jaunt to Appennino Tosco - Emiliano National Park to celebrate being able to put full weight on the leg:)

Tnxs for your support!

well, it's part of the stable here, my friend rides it in his twice a year visits to italy. I wasnt so keen of swinging a leg over it this time, too high a risk of banging my Ti plate at the front of my shin against a cylinder, my legs are too long!

Good to see you back on the road :) :) :)

And nice to know I am not the only one that keeps a spare bike for a visiting friend to ride.

So, that's how you add another bike to the stable if you need to give an excuse to the spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend

I see how you work...
It's for my buddy when he comes to visit and we ride together.

But, why can't he use one of your other bikes. Well, many of those are projects or are bikes I enjoy riding and maintaining, he wouldn't want to ride one of those old things... I will keep this one in good tune for him when for when he visits by keeping it ridden as well. ...yeah, yeah, that is the ticket!
