Saving a fuel tank
« on: June 30, 2018, 03:46:45 AM »
Hi,

I recently took possession of a CB400F2 that had been stored for 18 years. Surprisingly the fuel tank is still remarkable shiny and clean.

It's going to be some time before I will get around to doing something with the bike and I'd like to try to make sure the tank stays in good condition.

Does anyone have any ideas/experience on what I could do to ensure this? Filling with fuel comes to mind, but I don't really want to store a load of petrol in my Old Ma's garage. Spray with WD40? Swirl some ATF around? Just leave it - if it hasn't gone off after 18 years, it won't in another 1-2.

Thanks

Sean

Thanks.

2-stroke fuel? You mean petrol with 2-stroke oil added?

Sealed? Petrol cock and filler lid closed?

I would just use the oil...no fuel to water it down
If it works good, it looks good...
