New guy
« on: June 25, 2018, 10:59:19 AM »
What’s up guys? I’m from Spartanburg SC, owned and rode Honda’s all my life from an XR80 at age 8 up to now. Really enjoy working on bikes almost more than riding them. Here’s my current stable.

1982 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk
Was a barnfind a guy traded to me. Pretty close to mechanically sound as it was, it was also bone stock. Got it running perfectly, rebuilt and tuned carbs for pods (screw the people that say pods and CVs don’t mix, with enough work anything’s possible) I stripped it down, was going to finish it out as a cafe racer but a buddy supposedly is buying it as it sits so I’ve stopped working on it for now.

1978 Honda Goldwing GL1000
This is my beauty. Came out of a storage locker auction. 3900 original miles, seems like it’s been sitting for at least 20 years. Working on getting it back roadworthy.

1996 Honda XR400R.
Currently a basket case I inherited from my dad who recently was killed in a plane accident. Planning on finishing it out as a supermoto or scrambler to carry behind this 80s ford van my wife and I have made into an adventure camper.

Welcome Dawson from SoCal,

I like the GL. Come to think of it...I don’t think I’ve seen a white one, which looks sharp with the wheels and chrome.
“3,900 original miles”...wow. Excellent find. It just might be my favorite too if it were mine!

Thanks! I’m hoping to have it riding next week. The fuel tank was rusted out, I’ve tested it out with a lawnmower tank hanging on the bars. It’ll idle and rev Fair enough. I have a mint cond used one on the way. And the brakes seize up once you use them and won’t come loose unless you rock it back and forth.
