And to think that there are still people around now (men and women) who think that this stuff is acceptable!!

I'm surprised there wasn't an extra bullet:

Just noticed that the article was published three weeks before I was born; and I thought us boomers were the first 'progressive' generation!

Seen that one before, but still a good laugh.

I saw it about four years ago. Has happened to me before with other jokes; I sometimes think the number of jokes in Internet is limited and they travel around the net until you see them again...

What? Huh? What's the joke?

That's what a good wife is supposed to do.

I don't see anything wrong with any of that!

"Losing" is present tense.

I think it's long lost, actually.

I think you're mistaken. I'm pretty sure this is MULTIPLE CHOISE, so your wife is only supposed to stick to one of these rules.
I know this cause my girlfriend went for "Be happy to see him" . 8)

I wonder if women back then actually did that kind of stuff?  Man, if only, then I might still be married.

Yes, I think some did, but only the 'Ideal Wife' would have done all. :)   It would be interesting to see what the male/female ratio was on the editorial staff of Good Housekeeping magazine in 1955.

I survived the great feminist scare of the early 70's, and that thing is scary! Worst thing is, I'm in a dangerously conservative town, and I know people who "just want things to go back to the way they were"! I have a business partner who once said he thinks more people should wear neckties and hats!
Problem was, after the "feminist scare", we were admonished to be more sensitive, to be more the type of person depicted in that article...I too think I might still have been married if I hadn't swallowed that whole thing...my last marriage was to a hard driven executive who made a bunch of money, so I took care of a lot of the domestic stuff at the expense of my own carreer...word was, she dumped me because I wasn't hard driven enough (read:materialistic) or made a lot of money!
