Anyone used this tail pipe from Carpy's?
« on: August 24, 2018, 07:22:55 AM »
I'm looking at exhaust options for my '77 CB750F. I've been looking at the cone engineering slip ons, but I saw this one (http://carpyscaferacers.com/shop/shop-our-store/motorcycle-parts-accessories/honda-cb500-cb550-cb750-parts-upgrades/scorcher-chrome-muffler/) from Carpy's Cafe Racers and was wondering if anyone has used it or know how it sounds.

Are you keeping the stock header? Make sure whatever you buy has a large enough opening where it slips on the header, 61mm.

*edit* 2.5" is the standard equivalent, so that will fit the stock header, I can't comment as to the sound.

Yes, I'm using the stock 2.5" header. I think I like the more subtle profile of this one over the cones.

Well on his website it will run around 95-98dB. Which is loud. And pretty #$%*ing annoying if you ask me.

FWIW, Cone also makes something similar... They have the Stubbie Can and Twelve Can mufflers.

I’ll try to keep this unbiased, but if I had to order an exhaust again or parts for that matter I would not go to ‘ole Carpy boy. I had awful interactions with him, extremely delayed responses to questions about parts, and when I received a reply from Steve Carpenter it was vague and didn’t provide any answers to questions. It is in my opinion that the minute you receive what you ordered from him he ceases to care, the guy doesn’t care about his customers or their business, only their money. If it were me I’d go elsewhere to buy the parts you’re after. Good luck

If I've learned anything about building a motorcycle, it's check and re-check your work before you put it all back together. Although you do gain more experience by doing it twice.

I've actually been in contact with him some through facebook to ask him some questions and he's been pretty helpful. Unfortunately though my bike appears to have a 54.45mm (2 9/64") pipe, so none of his stuff will work.
