Cb750 f with k engine ....sprocket boggle
« on: July 14, 2018, 02:18:08 PM »
750 F bike with a K engine swapped in.
I know from the past the F's ran 630 chains....and I have a really nice brand new one .... This bike has typical 530 chain for the k engine that was swapped in and the sprockets as re the worst have seen. I need to replace the drive chain and sprockets. Being frugal Id like to use the 630 chain I already have and get new sprockets tp match but never went that way on a k engine. Maybe this is a stupid idea but was wondering if its stupid to even consider it.  Trying to maintain a budget and work with wjat I have so can I run 630 chain on k engine with 630 sprockets... If so I know the teeth num ers would be different....any thoughts. Id just buy all new 530 stuff and might if I need to just considering my options.

What model F?? Only 77/78 used the 630 and had the 10mm offset all the way back. 75/76 are 530 without the 10mm offset.

Its a 75f but has a k engine in it. Trying to figure out what happened there. If tbey used a stock 75f 530 rear sprocket and a stock 76k engine front sprocket would that be way off? Guess I need to hunt down what stock 530 sprockets were for 75F and order accordingly.

17/48 for a stock 1975-76F with 530 chain. Pretty much the same as a K which use an 18 up front. I have an 18 front on a 1975 F for a little taller gearing.

+1 on EK.

Stock 75/76 F gearing 17/48. I also have an 18 like the K used to lower my highway RPM.

What is your engine serial number? Other than using that as identification the 75/76 F engines will look identical to the earlier pre K7 engines.

That IS a 1975 CB750F engine. This is why I asked for the number. Looks identical to a pre 77K. Even the 77/78 K "look" identical - until you notice the 10mm offset at the output shaft/front sprocket. Probably a 2/75 (early) dated bike. It may have goodies in it. I can't imagine too many going to the trouble of removing an engine JUST to paint it. I've only taken mine out for good reason  ;)

I have CB750E-2507896 (2/75) and CB750E-2501964 (1/75)
