Actually, those rearsets do look pretty nice mate, better than the "U Clamp" one's that Dunstall and a few others were flogging at the time, although I don't know how secure those clamps from OCR would be? Do you have a pic of the Dennis Kirk items? Have a good one Bill, Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

         Hey Terry,

The Dennis kirk clamps are what Greg uses and recommends. If this works, here is a shot of the 1" clamps. They come in 3 different sizes (also 1 1/8" & 1 1/4") and they all are $6.99 ea,

Thanks Bill, but I dunno, they look a little "flimsy" to me? The brackets I welded to my frame are 1/4" steel strap, those would be what, 16 guage?

Up to you mate, but I'd like to be able to stand on my pegs to relieve the pain in the butt that the JPS Norton seat that Sean got me from Airtech will no doubt induce, and I don't think I'd trust my 240 pounds to those things? Just my opinion of course, for what it's worth? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry, Each one of the pieces (there are 3) are about 1/8" thick and the center piece overlaps each, of the other 2 pieces, for about an inch each (that would make 2" around the clamp, where the center piece fits, 1/4". Then the flat portion (where the mount hole is) has about an inch and a half of 1/4" thickness. Each clamp is held together with 4 flat head allen head screws. The clamps have to be assembled on the tube, that it is to be mounted. I hope I have explained the design of these clamps in  a way that can be understood without too much difficulty. It would be so much easier if you were here and I could show you. They do seem to be made of quality materials. I fully understand anyone's reluctance to take for granted that these clamps are so good but, I think they will do the job. I weigh in at about 200 myself. Yeah, I'm a hefty little booger, ain't I? ???  ;D When I get them mounted, I'll let you know how they do. Understand that I'm not advocating that everyone should back of and use these clamps no matter what. I just think that it's cool that, these clamps can be used in place of welding mounts on, if a person doesn't have the skills to weld or the equipment to weld.

                                                        Later on, Bill :) ;)

No worries Bill, if that's the case, then they should do fine! (I might just buy a set myself, the advantage would be that I could move them up and down the frame tube until I found the perfect position?) Dennis Kirk eh? I wonder if he ships to Oz? Cheers, Terry. :)

         Hey Mark,

Nice pictures! ;)  Rearsets look pretty decent. 8)  I think the main thing about the rear brake pedal set up is, if there is enough leverage with the short brake pedal. Hope it works out for ya! I'm still liking those pipes too! Mighty nice job there! Take care and keep up the good work! ;)

The return spring is not in place so the pedal comes up about 1 to 1-1/2  this make the geomentry better.

If I don't like it I can put a brake level like the gearshift and run a rod to a lever where the brake lever is now, but I am really just tyring to keep it as simple as possable, the more parts the more slop

The more I look at the pics, the less I like the seat, I may have to build another, maybe metal or am I just putting off finishing another project?

          Hey Mark,

Are our wives related? Sure sounds like it to me. ;D  Mine has the same attitude, she'd love
to see mine gone. ::)  Oh well, when I'm out doing something on a bike, I'm in my own little world.

Have you got any ideas on what you are going to do, in the way of a seat? ??? Just
curious. That seat didn't do much for me either but, I figured that it was YOUR seat and if it
worked for you then that was all that mattered, you know? ??? Keep up the good work guy.

Well I thought the foam mock up looked good, I just don't care for the finished product.
Well, back to the foam cutting board, or maybe not I cut up a old RD 400 tank last week well see where it goes.

I prefer the first, the second looks bloody uncomfortable to me.

But I think they both look wrong, as neither one follows the line of the tank at it's lower edge

The second feels alot better to me than the first, but keep in mind my daily rider is a 90 Ninja and I am only 5' 6".
I am wanting to tie it together with a old school top half fairing

I'm all for the 2nd one myself. I didn't say anything about the 1st one cause I figured that if it suited you, that was all that mattered. :D  I guess your exhaust system will work okay with the 2nd seat?  Still think yours is a cool build.

I agree with CrisP.  Does the frame drop down where the seat meets the tank?
I would place some kind of spacers to bring the seat back to tank level.  Otherwise it doesn't flow right.
Here's how I envisioned it.   :)
