Hard to tell from a grubby engine and want to try and get a stock like appearance.  Is this correct for a 77 model 400F?

I didn't look, admittedly, but think that only the covers had any clear coat. I have what looks to be an unmolested spare engine (minus various parts I used) and don't think there is any coating on the cases or rocker unit. My working engine was bead blasted and then Gunkoted black about 30 years ago. I have nothing but praise for that Gunkote stuff,  but probably with new VOC laws the formula is very different now. They have a clear version.
