I heard a CB350 will do 85 in 2nd gear! Read it on the internet so it must be true...

Oh, I had to exercise so much constraint not to say this!

My K7 had an 836 kit, cam and ported head.  I'm not sure what the actual top speed was -- my speedo indicated it got to 115 but I wasn't pushing it to redline.  The engine work markedly-improved acceleration.

I might add that this bike went on Jenny Craig and lost a lot of stock weight.

Back in the day, after break in,  my new 750 KO would indicate 128. HOWEVER, at first, it would pop out of fifth at about 105. I brought it back to the, dealer and they told me that it would not be a warrantee fix. I told them that since it was under warrantee and under red line that they had to fix it. They did, reluctantly.

When I first got my '75 750k running well(with a Dyna S and 3ohm coils, 4-2-1 exhaust, rejetted carbs), I saw nearly 135mph on the stock speedo. On an Iowa farm road, flat on the tank. I can't remember if I had my fairing on at the time. I always thought the engine was stock internally, but I guess maybe I better open it up and see. Now, around 13 years and 30,000 miles later, I'm lucky if the bike will do 110mph. I beat on it a lot, and it's really tired (also burns and leaks a ton of oil). So it's due for a rebuild anyway. Already got my gasket kit. Just need a few more parts, and motivation. Jim
