Quick Question. Left hand( clutch) switch assembly
« on: July 28, 2018, 11:50:29 PM »
I have a K1 CB 500 four.  The switch assembly has a hi/low beam selector.  The wiring diagrams only show this option on the 550.  Question is did the 500 have the hi/low selector or is the one on my bike not correct?

Many thanks in advance

It seems odd to me that the 500 wouldn't have hi/lo beam. That said, the 500 I'm building is a mix of 500 and 550 parts, and the wiring harness, switches, headlight bucket etc. that I got when I bought everything were all from the 550.

Agree, what is confusing me is the wiring diagrams in this forum which does not show the dimmer on the clutch side?

Re 500K1: In the US the off/Hi/Lo was on the right side, together with starter on lower half and red kill knob a top. Blinkers and hooter only, on the left.

Thanks for that. Mine has on the right side, kill switch, starter and headlight controls off, Park and on.  Maybe the Australian model is different to the American?

Ah Australian, I think is same as UK.
They had the same controls on the left, PLUS the hooter doubled as a headlamp flasher (by pushing to side) and an additional and separate lighting ON/OFF switch clamped to the bars.

The right had a P(pilot) L(low) H(high) switch on the right together with starter and kill. The US did not have the P position and that was replaced by all lights off. (they had no pilot option). The PLH switch is quite rare.

So lights on/off was on the right in the US and by separate on/off on left in UK.
