Nominate for Bike of the Month September 2018
« on: August 01, 2018, 12:17:42 AM »
I'm pretty sure this bike has never quite received the kudos it deserves, so I'm nominating Brent Waller aka Bwaller's CB500 Race Bike
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,83871.0.html

This motorcycle has more trick parts than you can fathom, including a CMR Drixton frame, CMR Boxed Chromoly Swingarm, custom fuel tank, modern fork swap with Brembo calipers, ALL KINDS of go-fast engine mods including 6-speed transmission, custom pistons and JMR head work.  The list goes ON and ON.

I'm a fan boy, too.

Guys like Brent have invested considerable time and money on developing new ways to extract/produce/provide greater performance from and for these old machines.  Not only is the bike "pretty," it is a haul ass bike piloted by a haul-asser.

Well thanks Don, sure I'll accept. It's not a new build, but it has (hopefully) been continuously improved over thew last number of years.

I'll give some thought on how best to list the mods or is that even necessary?

Racing improves the breed!

I know the list of mods will be incredibly long, but you have some time to work on it -- voting will not commence until August 16th.

Not to detract from Brent's and Tyler's accomplishments, but if this is the same bike that won BOTM October '11, it's not eligible under rule 10: Once a bike has WON BOTM, it can NOT be nominated a second time.

I think k the new frame would qualify it as a new build and its frame came after '11 if I recall correctly...but I might be wrong.

Firstly my feelings cannot be hurt over whether it fits here or not. I remember it was in the running once but didn't win. Once may be enough though and that is fine with me.

My wife's street ride won this BOTM years ago.

Not to cause a fuss, but, is this substantially the same or haven't enormous changes occurred since 2011? If the frame is new, suspension and motor, doesn't that constitute a "new" bike from the original?

I asked Brent before nominating since I could not remember it winning BOTM at least in the last 6 years.

We'll just delete it as a nomination, but I get Cal's point.

I'm glad to hear that it DID win in 2011.  It's a hell of a bike and deserves that recognition.

Any build thread or more photos?  That one photo posted above is pretty low resolution and hard to make out any details.

Sam,

Are you still thinking of nominating Drew's bike?

Yes Don but I'm having big problems with my computer at the moment so you will need to post a picture for me.
There are plenty on Bill Benton's Facebook page you can use.
I've asked Bill to nominate him but here it is from me in case Bill is busy.

I would like to nominate Drew_ATL to be included, he has been a member for some time but recently had to change his name so no pics of the bike yet on the forum but it is finished and is a runner.
