Looking for VRREM4-SOHC (Rectifier/Regulator)
« on: August 01, 2018, 11:02:58 AM »
I'm looking for a replacement VRREM4-SOHC for my 74 CB750 Four. Ive been reaching out to Oregon Motorcycle Parts but haven't heard back. Anyone have any ideas of anywhere else that I can find one? Is it absolutely imperative that I use this specific part or will a regular rectifier/regulator work?

I'm far from being a competent mechanic so I dont know if these are dumb questions.

There are quite a few choices out there.

I have an ElectroSport ESR240 https://www.amazon.com/ElectroSport-ESR240-Regulator-Rectifier-CB750F/dp/B0087PZZXC - smokin price -
on one bike

and a cheap EBay unit on another - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Combo-Voltage-Regulator-Rectifier-For-Honda-CB350F-CB400F-CB500-CB550-CB750/112463939390. This one I haven't really used yet but it won't have much of a cash loss otherwise.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

The simplest solution is the unit from Rick's, it is plug and play, no guess work involved. I put one on my 550 last summer when I was having charging issues right before leaving on a 2 week trip. It took less than 30 minutes in the driveway with basic tools.

If you want plug and play, grab a used stock unit. They seldom ever go bad, and you can literally plug both parts into the stock fittings and harness plugs and be underway in about 10 minutes.

You can reach out to dbenton as I’m certain he will have a known, good one.

I would go with what cal says. The stock unit does a pretty darned good job of regulatin' and rectifyin'.
Most people have issues and problems after they 'upgrade' their unit to a new one to get better 'performance'.

It might be that mr. weeks at OMP is away from the office and enjoying a weekend!?

He's usually quite receptive of customer service inquiry.  He warranties his parts with only a few exceptions.  Give him a chance to respond.
