Could someone that's used Simple Green confirm their long term satisfaction.

I'm gonna pull my motor, and paint it.  While the carbs were off I thought I would give em a soak in Simple Green to freshen up their appearance and get the gunk out.

Do I need to clearcoat them after with some lacquer?
I would not clear coat a carb. Heat will yellow it. The long term effect of Simple Green is it cleans them and they will get dirty on their own over time.

I'm an idiot... and as I sit away from home I'm kicking myself. I left a bunch of parts in a dilluted mix of SG at home because they were pretty dirty... and they've been in there for hours!

Guess we'll see how bad it is when I get home.

754: go to New Member Introductions and read the "Newbies Start Here" thread.

You've registered OK so that's the first step. Your email address comes up under the little envelope under your username.  Your user number is just a sequential registration number assigned by the forum software. It doesn't really mean anything.

Post your carb question in the technical SOHC4 section as you'll probably get more replies there.

Hi 754geyser,

Sorry for taking so long to respond... basically the o-rings came in the carb rebuild kit. A good thing too, since the o-rings were more like little rubber c bits as soon as the carbs started to come apart. The carb rebuild kits are well worth the money!

Dare I ask this question......

What do you guys do with the old, nasty simple green that has been used to clean many parts?  Can you "simply" (pun intended) flush it or something.  What about old gas and the like?  Is there a disposal site in your county to "properly" dispose of these fluids?  Do you store them in containers of some kind?

Don't worry...I am in no way affiliated with the US EPA....lol
