1963 BSA Rocket Gold Star
« on: September 27, 2022, 05:29:13 AM »
Met an interesting gentleman recently. He has the above machine, superbly restored by a well known specialist. Not street ridden; shows and exhibitions only. He’s 86 years old, and not riding anymore.
Anyone know a serious BSA Collector? I can pass on contact info. Motorcycle is just outside Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Nice. The Goldstar was a 500 single. That looks like a Super Rocket.

Correct! From memory, Gold Star frame and rolling gear with 750 twin motor. I’ll post the details when I get them.

These were produced with 650 Super Rocket motor in the Gold Star frame, I believe. A beautiful example of a very desirable BSA.

All correct! This one was a “scrambler” and has the pipes and bars switched out......
Stunning restoration.

Met with the owner yesterday. Asking Canadian $25,000. From his records, he spent much more. Restored by well known expert Fred Crawford (he builds bikes for the “Cannonball” rides). No expense spared and 17 miles since completion. It’s essentially a “Gold Star” with an A10 650 cc. twin, Super Rocket engine fitted. The Factory built 1,584 units in 1962-3. It’s registered here in Ontario, but has a US title (it came from there), so easy re-import!

Hi everyone...... I purchased this bike back in March last year.

Had to do a few minor things to get it running correctly. I had not driven a British Bike since about 1975 so my first ride bought back a ton of memories it took a while to get use to the brake and gear change  being the opposite way around!!!

It's no speed demon but for 1963 it's quite quick but the brakes are not good....again good for the day.

I managed to get 500 Miles on it this year up to the beginning of June then a Triple Bypass has got in the way so no more riding this season I'll have to wait for spring and the snow to go away.
