burnouts, is mine bigger than yours?
« on: June 08, 2005, 11:19:16 PM »
What is the longest burnout you have ever done? And do you have proof? Were there any witnesses? Any witnesses that lived? Mine for the record is 12 feet/3 meters with the help of a little chlorox, a newly oiled road and a junk tire I started with. All the witnesses died (justkidding!)
Laugh at least once a day.

What's the purpose of a burnout?
In drag racing it is to get some heat in the tire to maximize traction.  For street its just for some stupid squid to show he has the money to buy more tires than you.  When I race I dont do one , just a little spin to get any crap off the tire.   My avtar(?) was my sons idea.

Well, to be completely honest, about half a block. Probably 200 feet. TWO thick black marks. It was the 75 Camaro that I drove to high school. Started with cars. Got tangled up in motorcycles about four years back. I had a CB900C long time ago that'd smoke some rubber, but I've never laid a single track longer than six feet.

This is an old mate of mine.
Years ago I had a set of five pics taken with a Kodack instamatic camera showing smoke the full length of the strip.

lads.......what can i say. the heavy cb750 was built for burnouts. that sweet song at 8000 in 3rd!!!!! the things are too porky to pop a good mono on (a good wheelstand on a 750/4 will beat a burnout any day......but i'm not the rider to do it), whereas a good smoky will always please a crowd with minimal risk. i cannot advocate sculling a beer whilst doing it though. that would be irresponsible.........

Hey, I think I saw that female at the races in Loudon, surrounded by a bunch of Harley freaks. ;) last year.  She was pulled over by the cops later that day, and when they checked her tires, she recieved a ticket for "exxxcessive wear"  ;D
