Tire gauge
« on: August 07, 2018, 10:47:41 AM »
Anybody can recommend a good mechanical tire gauge?  Mine fell apart yesterday  :(

I don't want to deal with batteries and I also do not trust those stick ones.  Simple dial, mechanical tire gauge is all I am looking for.  And I would like it to last few years too:)

Pity about not wanting digital. My el cheapo Digitech has been going for 5 years, haven't had to replace the batteries.

Accu-Gauge is a tube type pressure gauge known for accuracy... Well built device and not too expensive, buy one with angled head for easy measurement.

I check with compressor tire inflator  and refill if needed every week. Bike is parked 2m from the compressor.

I have a compressor in my garage with a cheap tire inflator gauge and one of better quality, EURODAINU with Michelin label.
Both works fine. I see if tires look tired and in urgent need of more air.

Accugage it is than.  Thank you.

I miss those portable tanks you can find at gas stations in Germany, Czech and Austria.  The easiest way to check and fill your tires.  They look like this, there is one at every pump hanging on an air port.  After you use it, it will refill itself.

Have owned alll kinds and this one has lasted longest and is most accurate. Don't recall where I got it, somewhere around the dawn of time:

Longacre Racing liquid filled . Best gauge i ever bought. 1/2 # increments w/ bleeder. Bought it  originally for my Ducati Monster which is crazy sensitive to pressures. I use it 4 everything. It even has a glow in the dark face , which actually comes in handy.

I bought a Joe's Racing one for racing. Made in the states and very high reviews on Amazon. I like the hose with swivel fitting so I can get to just about any stem. It also has a button to bleed off air to get tire pressure perfect. Dial housing is in a thick rubber bumper as well so it should sustain at least a low altitude fall.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.
