Hello,
I do not as of now own a SOHC 4, but have in the past. My last one was a K5 that I sold about 12 yrs ago. I've been interested in another one so will be mostly reading threads of interest and researching. If I ask a question, will try and do the groundwork first and not ask something that there are a lot of threads on already.
I am old enough to remember these bikes when they were new and me and friends all rode them along with the other bikes of the day like Yamaha 650 twins, Kawasaki 3 cylinder 2 strokes, and my first new bike (that I worked all summer in a gas station to buy), a '71 Suzuki Titan 500 twin 2 stroke. I remember wanting a SOHC back then, but they were too expensive and I got the yr old leftover Titan for $836 out the door. SOHC 750s, and the Kawi Mach III were more in the $13 to 15 range IIRC; it doesn't sound like much today, but back then making $1.60/hr, it was a lot!
I have always had motorcycles and have a stable full now, but the plan is to thin those out, have a couple of vintage bikes including a SOHC, along with some other newer bikes. I currently own Japanese (Yamaha FJR & Suzuki Vstrom), American (HD vintage and late model), and Italian (HD Aermacchis - mostly 2 strokes, but do have a '62 Sprint also). As you can see, I like 'em all, but do plan to downsize and have a few, nice, bikes, which is what brings me to the SOHC. I have just always liked them, and want another nice one. They are still a bargain in vintage bikes, easy to work on, and plenty of parts and specialist shops for them.
I am retired USN and retired from Kennedy Space Center. I still live on the Space Coast north of Titusville, FL. If there's anything I can do to help locals, or anyone on the road passing through, shoot me a message. I've lived motorcycles most of my life and no plans to stop until I physically can't do it anymore, and that time is not upon me yet lol!
