Metal Rescue Gel
« on: August 12, 2018, 12:58:33 PM »
Just wanted to share my experience with Metal Rescue Gel.

This is the header for my 1980 SR500. It was extremely crusty, but solid. I wire brushed it with a brass wire wheel on my buffer. I slathered on the gel, wrapped it in Saran Wrap, and let it sit for about 18 hours.
WOW....what a difference. I can only imagine that smaller, less crusty parts would be even better.

Ain’t Chrome but that’s a damn good rider look.
I like poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking at dead things with a stick.

I think less damaged pieces would come out much shinier.

looks like it did a good job. i have found that oxalic acid works well for this too. buy it as a powder. sold as wood bleach. probably not as convenient, but its cheap. mix it it with water and dunk the part. it dosent hurt chrome or paint.
