Topic: Davida Classic "Pudding Bowl" helmets.

Those Davida helemets are made in the UK, not far from me. They’re not legal to wear in the UK but I’d rather wear one of those if I could, than a plastic full face from China with an ACU sticker. Everything in Europe must be approved and it cost’s big money and a small company can't justify it so they have to state

I am still confused!! To buy or not to buy a Davida. In my state there is no helmet law but I prefer to have something on my brain to save it. I love the look of them, I really like the one that Carpy wears http://www.cb750cafe.com/. But if they are not going to offer me any protection I am not going to pay $280 for the looks. Does anybody on here own one that can give me any input on them? I guess I can alway order one and see it for myself but I would like to get more input on it first. I understand that they won't protect like a full face or a 3/4 but will they protect as well as other half helmets like the M2R?

Yes, I have one...they ae neat to look at but will in no way protect you as well as an "approved" helmet...OTOH, it's better than nothing!

Can't tell if the shell is plastic or fiberglass, but I'll guess fiberglass. The liner is cork; can't tell how thick, but they didn't deforest Portugal for these.  Then there is a shoelace set-up that keeps your head from making contact with the cork. Probably one reason they look rather high on the head.  3 snaps and a D-ring/strap hold it on.  Again, I recommend some kind of stuffing on the inside ear flaps because the wind is VERY noisy with these things.  In short- very little protection, but better than nothing. It's a novelty.  Keeps the police at bay unless they notice a lack of DOT sticker.
Except on longer rides or cold days, I wear mine all the time. The brand name "Classic" makes the best goggles IMO. Some even go over glasses.

Sure is...I forgot to mention that while the helmet may not be the safest...it is very light and comfy!

Well I got one.  It's the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn.  It fits my head perfectly.  It is fiberglass lined with cork and a thin padded liner around the circumference.  The leather neck curtain is SOOO comfy and yes it is loud, but the roar at 50 is not much louder than the roar at 20, and unless I'm going on a long trip, I usually skip the pads or earplugs.

I got the "Aviator" type goggles that fit over glasses and they work great. I also got the leather face shield which REALLY helps with wind plus it looks bad ass.  Does it provide the protection of a full or 3/4 face?  No, but I'll bet it provides nearly the same protection of other half-helmets.

The only downside is the lack of visor makes riding into the sun a pisser.  But that's a tradeoff I'm willing to make.

It is the most awesome helmet ever.  The styling and look and fit and feel is perfect to me.  I should have bought one a while ago.

I got the John Cooper "Racing Series" helmet.  It looks like Blinky from Pac-Man is eating my head and when I stop and put up the goggles, it looks like the helmet is wearing the goggles.  Everyone I see loves it and thinks it fits my personality perfectly.

My wife doesn't go along enough to get one, and Rosie just makes do with Doggles, but this is usually how I look when I go for a ride.  Fortunatly taken from far enough away that I don't hurt the naked eye.

Thanks man! That was funny.  No, that's a friends house.  We have a nice little house, actually.  I make $8 an hour- but we don't have any kids, and we bought our house 5 minutes before all the magazine articles started touting Asheville as the place to live.

And you're right; I am the luckiest guy in the universe for many reasons.
