Rising Sun Rims - Any Experience?

Considering a set for a CB350 rebuild I'm working on - anyone have any experience with these?  The price is certainly attractive.

I have been overall very happy with the numerous products that I have purchased from 4into1 for my 550 and 750 with the exception of a very inexpensive chain for the 550 that wore out in about 2,000 miles.

These are likely made in China rims and so the quality can be hit or miss, but a set from say Buchanan's would cost you double what 4into1 wants. I would certainly take a chance on them.

I'm in the same boat.  Its 1/3 the cost of buying Excel or Sun rims & spokes from Buchanan, so going to give it a shot.

You get what you pay for guys. Buchanan's makes outstanding products in America from American materials.

Nonetheless, taking pride in the products you buy and implement in your life should be important. Me, I would not put Chinese wheels on any bike. Rationalizing the purchase of a cheaper alternative with horsepower numbers and distances you ride doesnt really make a better case for going cheap, but to each their own.

Especially since 90% of all vehicle accidents occur within 5 miles of home.  ::)

Just because it wasnt made in the US doesnt mean it cant be reasonable or high quality.  I'm still supporting a small business buying them (4into1) and the local shop I'm using to lace up the wheels along with some frame & seat mods and vapor blasting, and the other local shop for powder coating, and the other local shop for tank paint, and so on....

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.  I spoke with the vendor and I think the product quality is ok for my intended use, and I'll report back once I get the wheels built.

Reviving this thread... any purchasers of 4 into 1 rims want to comment on them? I'm at that point, considering either shelling out $900 for Buchanan Sun Rims/stainless spokes or $170 from 4 into 1 for Rising Sun rim/zinc-plated spokes. The price difference is absolutely staggering so it is a difficult choice.

Other threads state that Rising Sun rims are Thai/Malaysian manufactured. You can get good stuff made anywhere in the world, the difference is in the quality control, so I am not opposed to them on principle.

Any road reports on the cheaper option?

You are not quite comparing apples to apples. The stainless spokes don't compare price wise to the cad plated. IMHO

Yes, definitely not an even comparison. I'm wondering how good that plating is. My bike has the original spokes on the front, which are of course dull but rust-free. The rear spokes were replaced by the PO when they converted to a 16" wheel and they are all red with rust now, so whatever they used is crap. It's a job I'd rather not do again so longevity is key...

I have not assembled mine yet but I did wipe the spokes and hubs down with a coat of sharkhide.
