Replacement fuse boxes?
« on: August 18, 2018, 08:48:50 AM »
I thought I saw somewhere on here that it is possible to replace the stock fuse box on these older bikes and I am thinking I should do that. My main fuse keeps burning out and it might be due to the bottom one having melted the plastic around it, it’s loose and looks pretty bad.

My question is, can I cut use the same harness and wires and just snip them and then solder onto a new fuse box? Like one from Home Depot or something?

any suggestions?

I've used the newer blade-style fuse blocks on at least 2 builds.  https://www.wiringproducts.com/6-circuit-ato-atc-fuse-block.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIucDt8_v23AIVg7xkCh1eiwZ1EAQYASABEgIg-fD_BwE

They are relatively cheap, protect the fuses from the elements, and a model like this allows you to carry 2 spare fuses if you need them on the road.

Of course, if you upgrade to a Motogadget M-unit, the fuses are electronic and integrated into the control unit.

So with this I just clip the wires from the original unit, clean up or resplice and then solder on?

I used the one from Hondaman, really nicely made, inexpensive and worked just as advertised. He is a long time supporter of our site, so well worth doing business with.
