1975 CB 550

When the key is turned on, with the headlight and tail light on. What kind of power should I be getting to the fuse box?

There are 3 fuses left to right 1,2,3. I'm only getting power to fuse #3. Fuses 1 and 2 have no power.
Everything works fine, head lights, tail light and starter motor. I'm just not getting power to the points and plugs. I've cleaned the points with a points file, but there's just no power. I think it might be the kill switch?

Am I suppose to be getting power to fuses 1 and 2 when the key is turned on?

Thanks, L.A. Nomad

Is it possible fuse 2 and 3 are spares? I have a cb750 and they have 2 spare fuses in case you need one in an emergency.

Power and voltage are 2 different things, Power = Volts X Amps

Just trying to help

1975 CB500? Where are you as that should only exist in UK and have one fuse in a white plastic holder

Damn! you is right! I must stop doing keyboard time after a long night at work. Yup the 550 has 3 fuses 1 for "main" 1 for sidelights and 1 for headlight it does make the loom more complicated with more connections to corrode though

It's 550k and I figured it out. This model has a light switch, unlike my other 76 Cb550. When The light switch is on, all fuses get power. When the switch is off only the main fuse has power.

My points and coil were not getting any power, I figured out the kill switch had an exposed wire. So out comes the black electrical tape!

Thanx, Nomand

The stock five position holders use the two outer position as spare fuse holders.
IIRC, the center position is the 15 A, the two adjascent are 7 A.

They are labeled on the fuse holder.

Thanks for the quick reply! The 15A fuse is missing and the one next to it (right side) is blown. That must be why my buddy couldn’t start it? And I just realized 15A means 15 Amps. (Face palm)
