K7 750 - grinding side stand in left curves...
« on: August 19, 2018, 01:51:04 PM »
When trying to ride my K7 (fully stock) in nice curves close to my home, pushing quite hard, I realised that in left turns I'm grinding side stand!
normally I would expect that first I feel step (that has slider on the bottom), but I checked slider - untouched but side stand grinded!
there does not look anything bended of misassembled on the bike so don't really understand it.

Is that the same on all K7 stock bikes?
Picture shows place where stand is grinded

I had before Honda CBF1000F (2010, model SC64), but there was no such issue, first was always grinded slider on step, then step bent up and just then stand (main this time). I always had control in bending, knowing where is the limit (step bending first)

I was pretty badly surpised  by K7 behaviour

I'm sorry Erny, I can't speak to your K7, but on my K1 yes it's the sidestand that grinds on a hard left. In my younger days I used to scrape it regularly in certain curves. These days as a GHOF flatlander it is a rare occurrence. The passenger footpegs scrape first, and I will scrape my boots from time to time if I am careless about foot placement. K1 doesn't have the sliders, item #13?, and don't think I have ever dragged the front footpegs.

The kickstand could be bent or maybe the tab on the frame?

On Red I had to grind the tab significantly to tuck the kickstand closer in.

Shocks, gained some weight ;D Both will case early scraping.
I like poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking at dead things with a stick.

This is very valid point! I have doubts about shocks (still stock), even bike has only 9000 miles on tacho since new...
I suspect them also. Just started to think what to buy to preserve as much as possible original stock look..

Attached pic (bike is on main stand), you can see side stand relatively aligned with step, but when off the main stand situation changes, as shoks compress...
