Cb650 charging nightmare
« on: August 21, 2018, 10:44:46 AM »
Hey guys, I’m having the dreaded cb650 charging issues. I replaced the rotor with a new one, checks out at 5 ohms between the slip rings, also replaced stator and brushes, continuity between all 3 leads, no continuity to ground. However on testing I only have      .5-2 V AC between the yellow leads on the stator wires. I have no clue where I’m going wrong. Bad brushes? Bad stator from the factory? Any help/ input is appreciated!!

Thanks

Stator can't make voltage without a strong magnetic field, that is the job of the rotor. So, you need to know what voltage is applied to the rotor (slip rings), in order to make assesment of the AC output.

Bad rotors sometimes take out the regulator, whose job it is to provide voltage to the rotor, when the battery is undercharged.

Check voltage at regulator drive point and also at the slip rings, to ensure proper connectivity.
