Need help with Pamco ignition on my CB450
« on: April 05, 2019, 06:40:29 AM »
If anyone here can help on a 1971 Honda CB450 (DOHC Twin) with Pamco electronic ignition + advancer unit.

Installed Pamco ignition, right side spark is random left is firing fine. When switched blue to yellow and yellow to blue, problem moves from right to left.

Have replaced coils, plugs, plug caps (NGK 5k).

I have been testing spark with plugs out in motor for grounding. So timing etc should not be a concern when just checking spark outside?

I have had contact response from Pamco but of no help. Would really appreciate if there’s any troubleshooting on Pamco ignition. Meantime Battery volts on;

Black & white coil supply
Red wire to Pamco unit
Green wires to Pamco unit
2.95 volts on green point on plate
0 volt on green point on plate

Really appreciate
Thanks

Best long-term solution- return the POS Pamco, get a Charlie's Place.

Thanks for quick response
I would have liked to go back to breaker points but do not have points+plate and mechanical advancer unit
