MAJOR MOVE
« on: January 14, 2007, 02:15:55 AM »
Attention Heffey,Gordon, and other Colorado people, News flash..... I have been talking to family members out here in California and we have been thinking about moving there. My mom is working part time and looking to retire. My brother in law and sis. want to get out of state (he hates his job). I don't care but would love to escape Cali again. I have been to Boulder a few times(my ex's sis. lives there). I think it is beautiful there and  I have no probs with the weather or altitude ( did mid Wyoming for 12 years). It all kinda hinges on my brother in law because he is the brainiac of us all and will probably have to be in the big city (he's like a computer engineering project manager or something like that). He will probably end up in Denver or something. Anyways...my mom wants to be close to my sis and her family and me & mine but she doesn't want to be right in Denver area. So what is the cool place to live in Colorado? We've been looking at Fort Collins/Greeley.....Boulder area....Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Out of all that.....what is cool? I already know a bit of the Boulder deal but what about the others? If I move there I will have to rejet my bike again!!! Not a problem but will I have to replace my Raider stickers with Bronco???? That might be tough!!!!! Seriously though....give me a little feedback on this.

Do it! A move away from the population density will do you good. Shorter riding season, though.

fort collins sucks and it would probably be farther to denver than any of you would like.  it's about an hour drive to get to the edge of denver from there.

greeley sucks even more... the constant smell of cowsh!t

of the places you named i've lived in pueblo, colorado springs, denver and boulder.

boulder is by far the coolest place to be... unless you like big cities and traffic because denver has that.

pueblo is only there because of the steel mill and it is really dusty and windy there and not very fun as a general rule... and its farther from denver than fort collins.

colorado springs is my least favorite of all of them... if you like getting told what to do by holy rollers then move there.  it is a bigger city though and has quite a bit to do.

i love boulder although i just moved to lafayette which is 12 miles east.  boulder is pretty pricey to live in and rightfully so.  it is the closest to the mountains you can get without being in them.  very beautiful city, not too big, lots of hot girls on campus, a 30 minute ride to denver and the best of all... its known for its "boulder blue sky" where sunny days average 300+ per year.

golden also seems like a nice place... i mean, if you like coors... you'd be set  :D

anyway, once you narrow it down to a city... i can help with neighborhoods too as i'm pretty familiar with many areas around here.

good luck and hope to see you here soon!

If you move here you'd better not have those damn Raider stickers or your ass will wind up back in CA!! ;D :o. Hey, at this rate we'll be able to start our own motorcycle gang. Gordon has one going already.

I'm a carpet bagger also. We moved to Colorado Springs 7+ years ago. Of course Denver IS Colorado. We didn't want to be in all the traffic and congestion of Denver. Our daughter is 9 years old and thought that the Springs might be a more family oriented city. Fairly conservative but I've managed to survive in spite of that. We are 1 hour south of Denver so we can reach all that Denver has to offer in about 1 hour which is about the same time it would take if we were in Denver! The Springs population is growing fairly fast. It's around 600,000 now with 2 Honda shops. Actually the most populus county in CO. Traffic can be a PITA. Some crime, not bad however. We sit right up to the mountains. Small town feel. Schools are good.

Pueblo is, well, Pueblo. 100,000. Hot, flat, dirty, boring, not very dynamic, etc. Sorry if I step on any Pueblo toes. Inexpensive to live there as far as property goes. I have been working there some and find the people friendly. It seems like another world compared to the cities farther north. Kinda isolated.

I find anything north of Denver is still part of Denver to a degree. Suburbia Denver. Some really nice, pretty areas. Traffic congestion depending on where it is. Of course Boulder is Boulder. College town supreme. Smoke em if you got em. Sits right on the mountains. Few minutes to Estes Park and a great ride in Rocky Mountain National Park. Get a season pass for $50 which works in all the National Parks. I'll let the other guys speak on this part of the state and educate me some more too.

You should plan a week visiting us. I can make time. Perhaps the other guys could too. I have a second bike beside my 750F if you were to drive.

If you look at the map, you'll see that Pueblo isn't near anything.  We've been up and down I-25 a bit (coming from New Mexico), and I can't even think of a reason to stop in Pueblo; never mind living there.

yea, the only reason i go there is because most of my family lives there.  even growing up in kansas i came out to pueblo 1-3 times per year for holidays... with that, i'm a bit attached to the city but, only because i have peeps there.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input!! It is good to have first rate knowledge of these things and it makes looking a bit easier. I kinda figured Boulder would be the place to be although knowing its more expensive. Its still cheaper than California and would for sure be a better place to call home. I doubt this will happen overnight but I plan on lighting a fire under my bro in law's ass to get out of here ASAP!!! Will probably make plans to come out late spring and check it all out.(and I'll leave my Raider stickers behind also!!!). So far,we will more than likely stay away from Pueblo to the south and Ft. Collins/Greeley to the north. That leaves Boulder and subs. or Colorado Springs. Talk to yas later!!!
