750K - unknown electronic ignition
« on: September 01, 2018, 04:21:03 AM »
Does anybody have some information about this ignition? Found it installed on rusty CB750K2...
Description, schematics, advantages, disadvantages... Whatever. Point seems to be kept on engine

To me, principally it looks like Hondaman's ignition

Never seen one of those. Does the bike still have points under the ignition cover on the engine or another set up.

Had no chance to open cover, but from outside it looks yes - cable that goes from under point cover looks exactly the same as on my stock K7 with points

My guess it is one of the first generation transistor ignitions (TO-C type) that used the breakerpoints for the control current and that at the time were all quite bulky. If you can unscrew the cover and take a pic, it would be interesting to see what's inside.
