What the fork?
« on: August 27, 2018, 06:26:39 PM »
Well, really top bridge, tree.

The one on my '71 Honda cb500 Four K0 project bike (came in parts) came cracked.
No worries, found one on eBay.  It appears to be identical in every way except -
the pinch bolts appear to be 7mmx56mm.

Odd, I've been looking all over part lists.  They all say its 8mmx56mm.  But it is not for me.  And it isn't powder coating blocking.

Odd?

It has to do with the modification that part underwent. I suppose Honda thought with 7mm instead of 8mm bolts and omitting that special spacer (53235-300-000), there would be less risk of cracks. My CB500K2 (ED) came standard with 7 mm flangebolts, the same the CB550K2 had. As always the parts list is your reliable friend here. They're all here: http://www.honda4fun.com/materiale-documentazione-tecnica/parts-list/parts-list-cb500
You may also consult p.170 of the Honda Shop Manual CB500 - CB550 where forsaid modification is mentioned: https://www.classiccycles.org/media//DIR_1653304/DIR_1653404/DIR_1653507/ecc6759db0a214d5ffff8825ffffe41e.pdf

Thanks.  I was looking at the bolt for various bike last night but kept seeing 8mmx56mm.

Thanks.  I guess I didn't look long enough.
