Topic: Handlebar Question

Not a mechanic. Have a 1978 750 F and plan to swap out my bent handlebars (no, I didn't do it) for a straight set. It looks pretty easy, but have one question. Does the throttle tube off simply slip off when loosened and reinstall, or do I need to release cable keepers, etc. to make the swap? Thanks to any and all.

if you have enough slack you should be able to get them off by loosening and sliding.  my guess is you may not.  fairly easy to put everything back together.

Usually there is not enough slack but can remove the throttle tube once the handlebars are removed from the triple top.

Are you replacing the grips too?  Can be difficult to remove the left grip but I've done it with compressed air.

If replacing, I like Pro Grips if not going with stock grips...

Didn't think of sliding off throttle tube once handlebars are removed if not sufficient slack. Like I said, not a mechanic. Yes. I am replacing the grips with original style. It has those cushy coke bottle ones now, and I'm not a big fan. I decided early that I'm not going to drive myself nuts with this restoration, but would obviously like to come in somewhere close.
