Front end swap: shortening clutch cable?

Hey guys,
I wanted to see how you guys worked out your cables after swapping the front end or handlebars. The Yamaha R6 front end on my bike is significantly lower than the stock one on my '77 CB750F, and so the clutch cable was about 10" too long. So far, I cut off the barrel on the end, pulled it though the cable housing a good way, cut it off, and added on a screw-on barrel for the clutch cable.  However, I don't have the silver crimped cable stop that fits into the cable adjustment on the handlebar.

Does anyone have recommendations of where to buy ends or a tool to crimp them? or just where I could order a custom cable that would suit my needs?

I have never made a cable but Venhill make some nice kits with a lot of ends to solder on so thats one choice. The other is custom from either Barnett or Motion Pro. I don't know about Barnett pricing but Motion Pro is at least triple the price of a stock length cable.

Stuff like that I buy on ebay.  I made my own cables before, it is not that hard.

Find a new cable of correct lenght that fits?
Boring if the home made shortening will come loose and you must ride without clutch.

I've gotten quotes from Motion Pro on custom cables before. It isn't that expensive and it saves a lot of hassle. You just give them the stock item number and tell them how much shorter you want it. It's really semi-custom, and so not that much more.

The kits from Venhill look perfect. I'm assuming the ferrules are the crimp on caps for the housing? What tool do you need to crimp them?

What did you end up doing for your clutch cable? Even with the shortened Motion Pro mine is about 4in too long.... and it's starting to bug me.

I'm still using the R6 cable that I cut down with the "screw on" barrel swivel. I'll be able to see how well it works once I get my clutch fixed - I think the plates are stuck.
