The handling of that beast is most likely not as your other faster and newer bikes, so do not twist too quick in higher speeds or when taiking curve, frame and fork not that stable.

Easier with s CB750 836 with around 80 whp. Mostly OK to twist a lot.
My K6 with 1005cc is suddenly stronger, it feels like front wheel want to lift in some curves. Not like that before.

Your Kawasaki beast is much more....  :)

When I got the Delkevic to replace my stock 750F exhaust I was amazed at the difference. The whole exhaust weighs less than the stock muffler by itself.

Thanks guys, yep, the delkevic is much lighter Danny, and a guy with one on another site thought they were "cheap" quality because they tend to stain, but I disagreed, I reckon they're every bit as good as more expensive systems, including my Bassani and Jardine, that cost twice and 3 times as much.

Per, my current bike's frame has had some subtle bracing, and I'm gonna brace the new frame as much as I'm able to, by welding in 1/8" (3mm) plate gussets to tie it all together. It still won't turn it into a Ducati, but it should hoof it around corners with a bit less wallowing. Along with good shocks, brakes and tyres, it should be a fun bike. ;D

WOW, lots of brakes Terry! Beautiful on that beastiful bike.
It has a warp drive in need of a stopper.

Be careful, not only with the throttle in higher speeds.

Thanks Per, I have those big calipers on my Honda VTR1000F also, and thought about stealing them for this project, but don't like taking parts off one complete bike to put on another. As it was, these were really cheap (like me) and once again, look like they'll just clear the spokes on the front wheel, and will haul that beast down from highly illegal speeds.

The good news is, the second frame is now on it's way, so in a couple of weeks I can start cutting up gussets and welding them in, before I rattle can it black, and start bolting bits to it. By then the rest of the engine parts should be on their way, and I can build both engines, as I need to take the head off my bike to put on the 1428cc engine. Isn't building bikes fun?

I spent all yesterday re-arranging my garage (again) to install more shelving, seriously, it didn't save me that much space, and I forgott to put a couple of things away, which was annoying. I still need more shelving, but think I'll clear out the area behind my garage and build a "lean to" to park some bikes, and store more parts and machinery. Was a big job, not helped by delicious, but dangerous Ginger Slut I was drinking as I worked. ;D

I feel your pain Uncle Tez.
I took my quad bike and a DJP sidecar that I had been doing some work on out to my mates farm.
I have a shipping container out there with most of my bike stuff stored in it, but there was no way I could fit them in. >:(
So I had to throw them in my other container that was supposed to be earmarked for family storage.
If "The Lovely Evelyn" finds out I'm toast.

I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and sell my road race stuff. It's not as if I'm going to be needing it in the foreseeable future. ;D

Cheers,
Brian

Lots of stuff there!
The engines on that shelf look like  heavy lifts causing body damage if they have the internals.

Thanks Guys, the worst is it really hasn't freed up that much space, so I'm keen to do some clearing/building behind my garage and turn what's been a wasteland for the last 19 years into a lockable storage system. I'm "Working from home" today, so might have to do some internet shopping for a long narrow shed. Per, I used my patient lifter to put those engines up into that shelf, so no problems lifting them in or out, I just wish I had more space for my K1 engine, and second RC51 engine, which are still on the ground.

Yesterday I had a mighty battle with tyre removal from my crusty old Henry Abe wheels. I got the one on the 18 inch rear without too much bad language, but the 16 incher was a whole 'nother story. The tyre was locked to the bead with white fluffy corrosion, and even putting it in my vice to break the bead took several attempts, but eventually my resolve won out, and I chopped that baaastard in half with my angle grinder to get it off.

Today (providing they're open) I'll take them to the local blaster to have them taken back to natural, and decide if I'll paint them, or just run them as is.

Sunday Bloody Sunday 22 Mar 2020 2 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

A previous owner drilled the disc, apparently when he was high, as I've never quite seen a pattern like this. He must have been a dope, because apart from using one mis-matched bolt to secure the disc, the wrong nuts, and no evidence of thread lock or locking tabs, there was also one washer behind the disc, between the hub and the disc, which I assumed would have made for a wobbly disc, but I could be wrong. These are going on my K2 bitsa, but I couldn't find that thread this morning, so thought I'd park it here, for the time being.

Well you gotta love a pandemic, I dropped the wheels off at lunchtime, and the nice lady called back at 3 to say they were done? Woohoo! $60 was a great price too, so I'll order some tyres to suit. Next stop, Ebay. ;D

A lift or crane woul be useful when lifting engine out/in frame, to/ from bench.

Only problem is the space it take.

Thanks Per, no, this "patient lifter" (used for picking up patients who've collapsed in hospitals) will fit thru a doorway, breaks down for storage/putting in your car, and weighs nothing. I bought an engine crane that'll lift a tonne years ago, but it's useless, and takes up too much room. ;D

There is one 200USD foldable model that is sold everywhere
Like this:
https://www.biltema.se/en-se/car---mc/workshop-equipment/lifting-equipment/workshop-cranes/workshop-crane-1000kg-2000039788

Still take too much space in my packed garage. It would be fine with a ceiling mounted  if hose should have strong beams.

Yep, I've got one of them too, way too big for bike stuff, my patient lifter is tiny in comparison, and will lift a fully laden cB750 up onto a bench, as I demonstrated in a previous post. ;D

Several have put a steel beam either welded up to vertical beams or mounted on some 4*4s or 6x6" posts. Depending upon how much they plan to put the house to use. Using chain hoist or cable operated lift winch.
They can be handy to have but not being very portable are limited.

Saw a huge rolling chain hoist at a pick and pull automotive salvage yard for pulling motors out of cars by customers.

I bought an electric swing out winch style lifter years ago, but never installed it, because of the lack of mobility. The patient lifters are really expensive, but in my situation with a bad back, it's invaluable, I probably would have bought one if I didn't get this one for free. ;D

Well as reported on Sunday, I had a mighty battle removing the tyres from my old Henry Abe wheels so I could get them blasted in prep for new tyres and installation on my K2 bitsa. The 16 inch rear was so bad I had to put it in the vise to break the bead, and even then I had to use a penetrant, because the tyre had corroded to the rim. Anyway, 5 batteries in my dewalt angle grinder later, it was off.

So you could imagine my surprise after one day at the blasters, 60 buxx well spent.

Tuesday Corona stir crazy by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I drove straight over to the tyre shop to get some new Stinko's installed. They thought they wouldn't need tubes, but discovered that the rims were porous, so new Michelin tubes were installed. I was going to put them on the bike today, but fell asleep, so I'll do it tomorrow. Why three? I couldn't decide whether I'd stick with the custom 16 inch rear look, or go back to the 18. Good thing is if I don't like one, I can quickly swap to the other. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Oi Terry, any news of the Swamp Rat? Is the new owner still talking to you / have you been demoted recently? This thread seems to be going in all directions so it only seems fair to ask here.

And keep up the good work. With sports locked down worldwide you're our only source of entertainment.  ;D
71 or thereabouts 750 K1 - this one should have been put down

Ha ha, no, it's still going fine mate, he loves it. He got the electric starter working, and has joined a club so he can get a "club permit". Apparently the horn has gone to God, but everything else is fine. The day I rode it into the barracks, I could have sold it to 2 other guys who are looking for an old bike, maybe I should hurry and build my K1, but I need to fix my 73 Sportster and build my 1428cc Kawasaki, then my Yamaha XS650 and my second RC51 SP1, so probably not this year. ;D

Terry re your frame bracing.... I think using 1/8 is not a good idea, try closer to the frame tubing size..
There is a book called Engineer to Win, that explains the why..
Many think thicker is better but usually not, can lead tobcracks  or breakage.,

Terry, why would you mount the tires before you painted the wheels? Seems out of sequence to me, but you must have had a reason.

Thanks Frank, I'll be using a combination of steel tubing and 1/8" plate for gussets. Kosman racing did a kit that Z1 Enterprises were going to sell, but apparently Kosman was a bit like Luftmeister, and didn't follow through with the kits that Geoff from Z1 (also a member here) ordered. Looks like I'll have to make my own.

My New (to me) FJR1300 MC arrived today, along with some longer brake likes, I had it in my head that I'd ordered 700mm long ones for this bike and they were a bit tight, so ordered 750mm ones, but they were way too short, then I realised that the 700mm one I ordered was for the rear disc. I ordered 1000mm long ones for the new bike, so they'll be fine. Still working from home, not that I've been able to get onto the defence remote portal, so to keep myself occupied I made another batch of delicious ginger beer. My intent is to stay drunk until this is all over, except for ride days, when I'll stay sober until I get home. I'm supposed to do an advanced riders course on Sunday, but I suspect strongly that it'll be cancelled. Oh well, I think I'll be able to ride the 2000-odd miles in October regardless. ;D
