Hi guys,
Installed exhaust on my bike but there is a lot of exhaust leak from joint site at the engine.

Just ordered new crush washer, and wanted some help. The orientation of the collar and if it actually goes around the pipe, and which way does it does, the short end toward engine or the long end towards engine.

Yes. the two halves go around the pipe and the finned clamp slides over.

First get the new copper gaskets in place. I use a VERY small amount of grease to keep them from falling out. The grease will heat up and burn off the first few times you ride, so there may be a little smoke, but it shouldn't be obnoxious.

Then move the header up into position and slide all 4 collars up past the downtubes, but not over the studs. Then put the 2 piece sleeves over the pipes, long side towards the engine, then fit the collars over the sleeves and studs.

Danny gives good advice.   Only want to add one thing, be sure to remove the old crush washers from your head.  They can sometimes not be noticeable and appear to be part of the head.

Got ya. I didn't see a washer when I took of the header. Must be stuck on. Will definitely look for it

That is typical.  Use a dental pick type tool or a small flat head screwdriver...

They get dirty and blend right in and are practically invisible.
