Carb id help
« on: September 18, 2018, 03:46:10 AM »
Hi guys

Just picked up a spare set of carbs for a 76 550f. My original carbs are stamped 069a the new set are stamped 6273 which i have never heard referenced on a 550. Any ideas? what they are from and if they will work.
Cheers
Gordon

Yours are probably 627B, the carbs that were on the CB500, CB500K1 and CB500K2 in some markets. Although we are not a 100% sure the venturi are identical with the 069A, my guess is you can use them. There are some differences in the brassware however. The 627B carbs stock had mainjets #100, slow jets #40 and the needles show the stamped in number 272304, the 069A carbs had #98, #38 and 273004 resp. It's up to you if you want to give it a try or change the needle jet sets, main and slow jets. Do you have the stock air intake and exhaust? If not, I'd give it a try.

I don't think there is any real downside to the slightly larger jets. My 550F had 100's and it wasn't running rich.

Your 550 didn't have stock exaust.  That and air filter duct mods will require the larger jets, needles and emulsion tubes.
