75 CB400F Fuel leak
« on: September 15, 2018, 07:17:59 PM »
Hey there.  Have had my bike since 2010.  Recently discovered a fuel leak - removed the tank to get at the fuel line to see if that's the issue.  My sausage fingers are having a little trouble getting to the bottom nipple for the fuel line but in manipulating it, found the bottom nipple going into the intake manifold/carbs moving all around...almost as if it was free floating.  Is this normal?  My only frame of reference is my TR6 (car) where the fuel lines are hard piped to the carbs.  Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated!

Those joints have small o rings on them to stop the leaks so it looks like you need new ones. Check the parts manual for what you need.

The small nitrile O-ring kit at harbor freight should have what you need, kit is $5 btw...  Common problem with old rubber

Buy 8 pcs of 8mm x 2mm good fuel resistant o-rings if the fuel tees are indeed leaking and have fun splitting the carb bank  :D  Just replaced those on both a 550 and a 500 I am refurbing along with all the orings on the main jet, needle seat, float drain screws.  Fun stuff ! And yes the fuel tee's where the fuel line connects do move.

Thanks all.  My initial thought was the hose but that seems flexible and tight.  The joy of this bike is the size and spirit. The challenge is the miniature size and limited access of my ham hands!
