74trans fix

My 74 feels like it may have a problem with jumping out of first gear. I haven’t worked on a 750 for awhile..can you replace the first gear and I think it’s fourth gear (bad engagement dogs) while the motors in the bike..? Don’t beat me up too bad on this ? guys..Lol

Not likely without cutting the frame up top to allow the heads/jugs to come off the studs. To get to the gears you have to split the cases which at that juncture, it’s probably easier to just pop the motor out if you’re planning on messing with gears.

Have to pull motor, turn it upside down, leave top end on, remove engine side covers. Then split cases.. a few ofvtge bolts are on the top side.

When i was younger i remember pulling motorm revealing cases, reassembling.. most of it in an evening, at least motor back together stage.
 I was swapping sprocket shaft.
