Because it's the best damn way to get around! ;D

I'm sure it has a lot to do with the fact that my Dad always had a motorcycle when I was a kid and took me on a lot of rides, and occasionally pick me up from school on the bike, which made me feel especially cool! 8)

I like to be as connected to the mode of transportation I'm using as possible, which is why I've always preferred stick-shift cars to automatics.  Riding a motorcycle is just taking that to the extreme, using my whole body to control it rather than just my feet and hands.

Riding an old bike is just taking that another step.

uncle E said it perfect "I think I ride because I have to.  I'm not sure I even have a choice." As strange as it sounds, I fell that way. I've had my bike apart for 3 months and I'm about to go crazy. I need to get it done fast now. I don't think my liver can take much more of this!!! :P

Good post GG. Even got to the sensitive Terry. You can tell cause he had to make a macho reply :)
Put your hanky up Terry and get it back together.

The feeling of Freedom is the best part of the riding. GG describe the sensation great as did
Richard with the Loud Cloud bit :) And part and parcel with Freedom, real Freedom comes danger.
Not the wimpy stuff most americans find to be freedom these days. Sorry to go political on y'all
but that thought crossed my mind when I was think of the consequences for that Freedom gained
on the bike. When one decides the dangers out weight the freedom then one decides not to
ride a bike, jump out of plane, climb a mountain, race a car, or anything that takes more than the
common risk available to us all when we get in the shower (might slip on a bar of soap you know).
I think then is one has truly lost a major quality of life and actually given up on living. Risk make
life..ah...well...living.

Thanks GG, but please don't write a piece on how much you love me mate, as it is I think I just up-chucked my lungs, man, there's more of me on the outside now than there is on the inside!

Don't worry though, in between violent bouts of barfing, I've forwarded these posts to Hallmark and "Rump Riders Weekly", so you guys should be receiving some royalties checks any day now!  ;D

Why do I ride? Well, it'd be pretty farking pointless owning 10 bikes if I didn't, wouldn't it? And some of the sugar-coated, treacle dipped replies above, nearly made me "projectile vomit"!

What kinda dumbass question is that anyway? What's your next question gonna be, "What color undies are you wearing"? Ha ha, just jokes you big softies, now put those naughty guns away, and lets have a group hug, awright? Cheers, Terry. :)

I ride because I love the feel of the wind blowing through my hair. The sweet smell of flowers eminating from the gardens of the neat little homes I pass by. I love the feel of all that power and the naughty thrill of having 5 gallons of explosive liquid betwwen my legs. The vibrations come through the steel and touch me in an intimate way.

Actually that is a a bunch of sh1t. I ride because I like it. I am alone even if I am in a group, I can see you but I can't hear you. It also reminds me of flying a chopper. You need to use all of your body to operate it and you are making constant adjustments. You just can't let the thing go by itself.

It helps that my bike can go 3 times further on a gallon of gas than my car can...

I like to explore, and to do that around here you have to drive quite a ways. I couldn't afford it in my car. And I can go somewhat off road with my bike if I take it slow.

I ride because it is cheaper than a psychiatrist and is a great way to clear my mind of the days problems, after riding for a hour or 2 I truly feel at peace with myself the stress just seems to fall by the road side.

Oh and I forgot, riding has always been a great hangover cure for me, an open face helmet or an open visor at 60 Mph has a great "wind-sock" effect which seems to cool the brain fluids and re-hydrate my mind. Hope that's not too mushy for ya.

oh terry,i love you too.

Thanks Dusty, if I ever decide to come over to the "dark (brown) side", I'll take you dancing, no worries!

Cheers Terry. ;D
