Ok, so I re-read the 307 (now 311 pages of post) and I feel quite confident in stating that I am almost 100 percent positive that a lot of what I've read has no actual bearing on actual bearings.

So, if I do boost the performance of my shameless, what type of HP gain should I expect to see?

Also, which type of thread is correct for a 76 550? I want to do this right the third or fourth time so as not to waste too much time.

correction 312 pages...

Muk,

I've been known to get stuck on all caps myself. Some people get really annoyed at me for yelling all the time. All they'd hafta do is listen.

I've been out for a few days as my computer was liquid damaged by the reaction I had to some of the posts here.  This foolishness must stop.  I can't afford a new computer every time some a$$hat decides to quote Python or SNL!

Welcome to the newcomers.  Hawk- nice quoting from Animal House.  Did you seriously read all 300 pages?  That's a day you won't get back.

Feckin'......now that's a word I haven't heard in a long time. Made my day, Carmen.

Thread type depends on the degree of insanity involved. 550-only would be appropriate; oil is always a good topic, along with tyres, chain lubricant and helmet usage. If in doubt resort to SPB thread....you can't go wrong.

As to bearings, would that be muffler bearings? Which side? OEM or aftermarket?

I'm not sure, I think the ones that needs replacing are on the OEM side.

Outwards, and then inwards. Does this mean they are Aftermarket mounted on the OEM side or could this be caused by the bike having set for 12 years in the weeds?

If it is a hen, usually the bottom side. Roosters are the opposite. Of course this only applies in the northern hemisphere, southern hemisphere is the opposite.

The outside, of course.  Chickens don't have feathers on the inside.

You also should have asked if these were hamster bearings or not, and if they were  are they OEM or after-market hamsters?

I forgot about gerbils, but then i`ve heard they just dont last.
You cant find anything but chinese gerbils these days and they have poor quality bearing races

You can use the bearing race off a Vietnamese gerbil if you back the adjustment screw off 1/4 turn and use a longer pilot jet cable.

According to the owners forum, the latest info has it that it is 3/16 turn.

 >:( RANT ON:

Ok America, we need to stop selling our scrap gerbils to China. Oh sure, a handful of people are making money off it, but it costs the average citizen more for daily goods.

As mentioned above, cheap Chinese import gerbils do not last as long and break frequently.

Let's all do or part and for the month of July (next month, 4th of July, all that stuff...) not buy any gerbils from China. That'll learn them.

ok, Rant mode off:   ???

That's a metric 3/16 turn or SAE 1/4.  Rounded numbers are more precise, ya know...
