So, it's nasty out. I have a feeling I won't be getting much bike #$%* done in the next week.
I'm taking the front caliper and #$%* off the 750. I think I'm gonna drill the rotor.
I'll do the same on the 550. Why? Because it'll look cool. Plus I'll feel accomplished and it doesn't cost anything to do.
Oh, but i have to rebuild that caliper. I forgot it sticks. that DOES cost. boo.

Question, can you use any standard drill bit and drill to do the rotors? I have the pattern PDFs already..

any bit will "work" ..  but your gonna be punchin yourself in the face repeatedly , if you don't use a drill press...  cobalt bits last the longest .. but cost more , i've found that a normal bit (preferably new so it's sharper)   , with an insane amount of oil works good , do it in quarter sections, and let it cool off, so it doesn't warp....

or you could buy the one i have  ;D ;D

Yea, I've got some oil and a press to borrow. I may have to buy a bit, but, whatever.

I used carbide bits, wd40, and an 18v dewalt. my chest hurt for a week from leaning on it. and I wouldn't do it again without a drill press.

if you start with a 1/16 inch bit and make all your pilot holes, it makes it alot easier.

you don't need pilot holes if your using a press .. it couldn't hurt.   but isn't necessary

1/16- 1/8- 7/32- 1/4- I just graduated logically to the next sizes so it was big enough that it wouldn't bite, and break a bit.
i guess, I dunno, i just make holes in stuff.

spikey is right, you don't need pilots if you're using a press, but it is nice.
