Flip M-town the bird for me, will ya?

After a few weeks of getting up at 11:30ish, 10:30 seems pretty damn early. Getting up 'early' to run to school for my books. yay.

thanks for the links! hadn't checked ebay, I was hoping to find something local so I could get this fixed up in the next couple days, but idk if its going to happen.  Found a guy 2 hours away with a complete engine with a blown headgasket for $300, and I have everything needed to replace the HG as thats all I thought was wrong with mine, until I took it apart.... So i guess now I just need to decide wether or not I can/want to get this done before I go back to school on saturday...

drool..... Yeah that'd be nice.  It'd do a hell of a lot better than my carb'd 22r pulling around my lift and 33's...  This is the second new head for my truck, both messed up the same way. Center cam cap broke.  Now if toyota would use cam bearings, it wouldn't be as big of an issue, but because they dont... I have to replace the entire head.

looks like your next head needs a little mod to the oil galley on that area.
also open up the cooling passages a bit they screwed up when they designed the head.

my dad and I used to work on those motors all the time.

Any info on the mod?  Any thoughts on what the better route to go would be?  New head or the used engine? The engine is $300, nds. new headgasket, unknown milage, supposedly ran great complete w/ everything but FI components. At this point I don't know if I can get the job done right and still get it done by this weekend.

a stock 22re head doesn't fit in the truck with 22r motor.  only the modified 22r/re heads.
         (they're new castings)
with the oil mod you gotta open up the oil galley under that cap and bevel the edge.
water jackets are an easy enough mod.  just make them bigger.

Alright so if i understand correctly because I have an 84 block, I need an 84 head? I haven't looked into this in quite a while, I do know the timing chains are different is this a result of only the deck height being different or is there a change in the head as well?

you have to use the 22R head from 80-85 and a half, they have square intake ports and round exhaust.

they came in toyota celicas of the same year range too.

When did this joint become a Toyota thread?  Or any kind of mechanical advice thread, for that matter?  This is a BAR.  Take it outside.

Now, this is bar talk;

good head is hard to find. ;D

But this perplexes me.

mmmm tree nuts.

I thought you.....  Oh, never mind.

I don't think "head" is gender specific.  But let me guess.  You're one of those that don't give, but love to receive.
