Livin' the Dream!
« on: September 21, 2018, 04:32:35 PM »
I spent last evening tinkering on the little Dream 50, doing things like wiping off dust where there really was none and checking tire pressures and chain slack that were already perfect....

....so it was obvious that this morning I really needed to just take it for a ride! I chose a nice 100 mile loop through local wine country back roads. Heading out from home the air was cool and clear and the new spokes sparkled in the morning sun.

With harvest over, vineyards were quiet.

The little bike is a real hoot on tight twisty roads....

....and with its 89cc kit manages not to hold up traffic most of the time, but downgrades are always welcome on a bike this size!

Down past Lake Berryessa and Lake Solano I rolled back home for lunch, amazed at the capabilities of this little jewel.

Thank you sir, as always, some great shots of a beautiful bike and scenery. I've missed them.

Quite obvious, that the Dream 50, is in good hands, from all you have posted and thanks for posting the photos as well. Really a sharp little ride there. And the photos show a lot of the Honda engineering, that makes them what they are.  ;)

OK guys, easy with the compliments, his head will get too big to fit into his helmet. ;D Just kiddin' and he knows it. His knowledge of old Hondas and his ability to repair them is equal to his photography skills, and you can see how good they are. Great stuff Bill.

Photos make me a little homesick. I moved here (Maui) from Davis. I spent some years with the Bureau of Reclamation as Park Manager at Berryessa, during the rough times when all the resort contracts were coming to and end and were overhauled. Made the trip through the area, via Winters every day. Beautiful country except when fires happen.
Beautiful bike, what a jewel. As I like to say, only Honda seems to produce such mechanical jewelry.

Thanks MauiK3, I wrenched at Davis Honda from about 1965 through 1980. Ever stop in there? Was in Maui windsurfing years ago and saw lots of good riding there. But the salt air must be a problem for corrosion, right?

It is a problem. As I worked on my K3 I made some changes to help slow it down. Lots of stainless fasteners, coated everything I could, used POR 15 on the frame, etc. I also wash it often with water from my deionizer, hoping it efficiently washes the salt away. It’s always stored deep in the garage away from ocean breezes.
I’ve been into Davis Honda.

Spurlock, I presume that is cloud silver being used on the bike? Are you aware that the Honda PowerSports division still offers it in spray cans? N17 is the cvode if I recall correctly. Have the part number on my computer if you cannot find it. There was a boat related eBay seller who was selling cans for with $17 or $19 shipped a year or so ago as I had followed the relisting of that product for many many months.
I think it is a 8oz spray can, not a 12 oz like most expect when buying Rustoelum or Krylon...

I've been using DUpliColor DE1615 "aluminum" ceramic engine paint on engine cases. Seems to be a close match and durable. But thanks for the tip on the cloud silver, I had no idea it would still be available. If you come across the part number I'd appreciate having it. Thanks again.

Very good morning to all. I would need to make a valve adjustment for my honda 50 dream, but I have no idea which gauge is necessary to adjust them properly. Could someone help me? Millions of thanks
